Contentment

Hi friends! I'm Moriah from over on Quintessentiallyliving blog and I'm so thrilled to share some words with you! I hope they can be an encouragement or help in one way or another.

I've grown up as a missionary kid my whole life, which basically means my life has involved a lot of traveling and moving.

It really is an incredible life to live and I wouldn't change it for the world, but there's something I often struggle with.

Contentment.

I often think that if my circumstances were different, if maybe I lived somewhere else, if I could do this or that, or if I was someone else I would be happier.

I can't even begin to explain how many times the devil has used these thoughts to tear down my joy and maybe he has used these thoughts on you as well, but just know that it's a lie from the devil.

Contentment is being thankful where you are, right now.

We tend to compare our lives, we tend to imagine if we were just in a better set of circumstances we could be happier, but it's not true. One thing I've learned, is that the only thing that will come from that kind of mindset is disappointment and jealousy.

Accepting where God has placed us in life is so essential. We can't be happy unless we choose to be content with how and where God is using us. His plans are bigger and so much better than anything we could imagine, so why do we try to wish away the life He has given us? He has placed you right where you are because He holds an amazing purpose for you.

Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, there with to be content.

Philippians 4:11

He's working in your life right now, right where you are. I know it might be hard and frustrating at times, but to be content we have to choose it and to intentionally have a heart of gratitude daily! We're in this together. Being content with how God is using us and where He has placed us is so important, don't lose sight of the incredible purpose He has for your life.

I've found that contentment is the root of JOY. We can't have joy-filled lives unless we are first content with where God has us.

Don't choose joy, choose contentment and then joy will blossom.

Let's do this together, let's aim and challenge ourselves to live a life of contentment and joy!
